The Optimystik Visionaries was born from the idea of Greg Morgan and Nick Steed back in 2012.
They were joined by good friends John Sandham and Nick Waddecar, writing and performing music in the ‘jazz-fusion’ style of which they are big fans with influences from all the great fusion musicians of the 1970s and 80s.

The band’s debut album, ‘Optimistic Vision’ received great feedback and various gigs and supports
ensued, but with commitments from other projects the band decided to take a break from performing.

Fast forward to 2020 and the unprecedented time of Covid. This gave Greg and Nick the opportunity to write new material and gather together a host of great musician friends and special guests to add to the tight sound that they produce. The result is this 12 track original album‘Return'.

Sadly due to wrist injury their regular guitarist Nick Waddecar was only unable to work on a few tracks so the main guitar job was given to good friend Nick Mellor with also guest appearances from Peter Mason & Mete Ege.
The band expanded the whole sound with Saxophonist Kim Nishikawara whom also plays with Nick Steed in the new lineup of jazz rock band 'Colosseum'.
Nick & Greg were overjoyed to have Legendary percussionist Lenny Castro(Toto, George Duke, Al Jarreau) offer to perform on 4 tracks on the album, also joining the lineup was original bassist John Sandham and bassist from the band 'Dare' Nigel Clutterbuck. Greg also performed some bass on a few tracks when John and Nigel were unavailable.
Vocals were also introduced on two tracks with Nick and blues singer Amanda Jane Heywood.

Some of the songs pay homage to the great artists we have lost in the last few years who have been
so creative and influential. For example George Duke (Dukey Sunrise, Me Leve De Volta), Chick
Corea (Chick’s Danza) and many other influences heard in each song from R.T.F., Weather Report,
Toto, Frank Zappa, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, David Sanborn etc.
